Once you install the importer, you need to install the Genesis Starter Essentials and it's Poser Companion Files to the same runtime. I've found the best solution to be a separate external runtime. Rather than use the DIM, download the files manually and install manually.

You don't need the starter essentials for the dson importer to work. You only need them if you plan on using Genesis because those are the Genesis content packages (same goes for genesis 2 female/male starter essentials packages).
